Dave’s Hipp: Dave Rickards, mild mannered host of KGB’s morning show, has been heard of LA stations! He is the spokesman of an area boat dealer. The ads, which started in the past week, shows how diverse the host is.

Noted: Cookie Chainsaw Randolph’s quest to have Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) in studio could happen today. Some think it may be on the same scale that the Padres win the west this year. It could happen. Some people see the glass as half full. Others see it as half empty. Jack Bauer sees the glass as a deadly weapon.

Mark Larson will have California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger on at about 8:05 a.m. Remember to adjust the radio to 1170 KCBQ. Topics include the recent budget “deal” and all things Arnold. The governor is a regular on Mark’s show.

~~

It started out as a joke, and it went viral. On off the cuff remark had KCBQ’s call letters moving to Riverside County because they were under-utilized. while the remark was quickly proved as a joke, the info hit the net and went world wide. 1170 KCBQ remains in San Diego, and is at 50,000 watts from its broadcast location in East County. Part of Salem Radio, KCBQ recently re-introduced Mark Larson to the morning airwaves. Add in local-late night programming from Rick Amato, and the big guns from Salem’s talk-chest, the station is anything but “under utilized”.

~~

Also noted is that Brian Whitman is very much alive, despite some pundits that pronounced his death earlier this week. Brian, a man of many voices, was once the morning show at 101.5 KGB with Jack Silver. Brian is currently doing work for Glen Beck, and for Rick Dees.
