laura.jpgThere is a major shift happening in Los Angeles. Starting today, Dr. Laura Schlessinger is heard on KFWB at noon. She remains on KOGO locally in San Diego. AM 600 could be a potential winner in this as Inland Empire and some parts of Orange County may receive San Diego’s station better than KFWB. Her last day in LA was Friday on KFI.

laura.jpgAnother causality in the program shift is AM 540. Operated by Mount Wilson Broadcasting from Los Angeles, prime programming was pulled from LA’s KGIL. Shows including Laura Ingraham, forced owner Saul Levine to change programming at the two stations.

LA’s 1260 has moved to Retro 1260, and AM 540 from Baja, is expected to begin broadcasting Spanish language religious programming.

Roger Hedgecock is expected to land the afternoon drive with his nationally syndicated show.

Also starting today is Bill Handel’s noon to 2 p.m. show on KFI and is syndicated by Premiere Radio. The two hour show will not be similar to the morning show, nor his weekend. He told his audience last week it would focus on the “big stories of the day”.

~~

Is this the week Rich Berra lands in San Diego? With no official announcement made, internal comments have suggested that the JohnJay and Rich show will be part of the San Diego morning skyline. Stay Tuned.

acdc.jpgTommy Sablan went to the AC/DC concert the other night. Tommy writes: “Last night, I went to see ACDC in concert! Before the show, I met Laura and a long time friend of ours named Sandi Smith at a “bakery” across the street from the Sports Arena where we sat down and ate a nice dinner.”

Tommy adds: “The concert was great! I loved every minute of it, EXCEPT the fact that everyone was like idolizing the devil and 1 out 10 people wore those devil horns on their head. All night long, I was saying the LORDS PRAYER to myself but loving the music. ACDC must be living right and living healthy, because they look and sounded great for their ages. Their easy chord structured songs are the easiest to play on guitar, but are considered masterpieces. Every song had the same 3-4 chords and sound, but they all were great. It was a great Rock and Roll Show! I loved it! Looking out in the crowd and people watching was fun. You saw people TRAPPED in the 80’s and look like they never stopped living like they did and still kept the same haircut. You saw men in their 40’s bringing their kids.

The one thing I do need to tell you about last night was Barbara Lee Edwards from Channel 8! OH MY GOSH! She was gorgeous, sexy, and stunning in a Rock and Roll way last night. Her husband must go to bed every night with a smile on his face. Barbara is the nicest person around. For the last couple of years, she’s become a good friend of mine and she is very caring and she gives me some great advice and she is just a good person and San Diego is very lucky to have her. She looks great on television and she’s all professional, but if you ever get a chance to see her out of her news element, God has blessed you.

music4.jpgHer name is Kevan Christine, and she has an exhibit coming up. I’m a San Diego based music photographer and recently I created a new exhibit that will feature musicians from San Diego, Los Angeles and other areas.

The exhibit project is entitled “Musicians | Volume1″. The point of the project to to show that there are wonderfully talented musicians and bands out there that push and struggle every day to have their music heard. They don’t do it for the uncertain promise of glamour, money or rows of screaming fans. They do it because they have to. They have to create in order to live and breath.

This first installment features nineteen solo musicians and bands from across the United States. Volume 1 is a specific focus on the musicians in my hometown of San Diego, California. While all the musicians involved are of a wide variety of genres they all have a common ground….music is life and without it there would be no purpose.

The project will be on exhibit September 12 - October 8, 2009 at The Office in North Park. The opening reception will be the upcoming night of September 12 with live music by a few of the participating musicians.

Please check out the project website for more information at [6] MusiciansVolume1.com .

[7] dt.pngDavid Tanny, another San Diego based blogger tells about his changes at [8] DavidTanny.com. David writes: “The website contains a 10 year old radio news and views blog, a gallery of past radio station logos, an HD Radio store in case anyone cares, a radio and TV database containing information about the Southern California radio and TV stations, an Internet radio station page, video arcade, optical illusions, Saturday Morning cartoon schedules of the 60s-80s, daytime TV schedules of the 60s-present, The Advetures of the O.B. Ranger page, a streaming rock and comedy radio station, a section for funny videos, and more.

“There are also playlists for the podcast shows that I produce for the Internet. There are also links to many social networking sites that I am on.

“There’s The Dementia and More Project (or DaMP) where I feature new and unreleased recordings of funny and weird songs. Visitors are welcome to submit some links to publicize their comedy stuff and even sell them on my page too.

“Last but not least, I have a store where I sell my comedy and dementia CDs and mp3 sets. Some of the mp3s can be sampled at my soundclick page. “Yes Parking Anytime” has song parodies, a salute to Free Radio San Diego, radios, cars, celebrities, nerdcore, and other novelty stuff. It’s found on CD Baby. My other two CDs, “This Side Up”, and “No Static on Channel 3″,
have more comedy and dementia selections. My last CD, “Rap With Howard”, is a Dickie Goodman-style collection of break-in recordings including three “So-Great Debate” presidential interviews and a 30-minute analog interview show I did way back in 1980.
All four CDs are linked on the home page of [8] DavidTanny.com. Thirty copies of the mass produced “Yes” are available; the other three CDs are homemade on demand.

David adds: “All this, and sections for Harry Potter and Hannah Montana stores too. Check it all out sometime. Thank you. :-)
